Oracle Database 11g R2 will be the database for all the posts that will be posted in this blog.

Download oracle database 11gR2 from here
Download both File1 and File2. Then extract them to the same directory. After extracting both files, folder should look like the following screen shot
Double click on setup then click Run
If you have oracle metalink account, enter your mail and password of metalink account. If not go to Next. Select the option that you like. I selected first option for this installation.
Accept the install location defaults and click enter password for Admin and click Next. If password doesn’t conform to the Oracle recommended standards a pop-up window appears.
Click Yes if you want to continue or No to go back and change Password.
Click Finish to start installation
To unlock the user account(if you have not done this while installing) use the following sql statements
ALTER USER sh ACCOUNT UNLOCK;
ALTER USER sh IDENTIFIED BY sh;
From Release 11g, oracle user account passwords are case sensitive. If you don’t want to have case sensitive passwords, use this statement
alter SYSTEM set SEC_CASE_SENSITIVE_LOGON = FALSE;
